The founders of the United
States were deeply convinced that religious freedom and tolerance were
essential to a free people and the wellspring of all other freedom. On
January 16,1786 the Statue for Religious Freedom became a law and adopted
as the First Amendment of the Constitution in 1791. We will discuss how
this freedom is expressed today.

Census

The recently complete U.S.
census shows that 9.3% of the U.S. population is now foreign born. The
new immigrants are catching up in areas of education and are learning
English at an accelerated pace compared to previous immigrations.
Dr. Prewitt will discuss these and other facts found in the Census.
