their plight is more difficult because they are usually left alone to take
care of themselves and their children. We will discuss their lives and
struggles and what international agencies try to do to help them.

On February 20, 1986 the
Soviet Union launched a new space station called Mir, which in Russian
means peace. Now, 15 years later it has returned to earth. We will discuss
what has been learned from this human outpost in space as well as the possible
consequences of its return to earth.

The poverty and powerlessness
of women in Africa and Asia are combining to make them increasingly vulnerable
to AIDS, which some are now calling a women’s disease. In these countries,
a family is found to be infected when a woman has a child with AIDS.
Her status is further diminished and she is the one who is blamed for introducing
the disease into the family unit

children throughout the world is 11 years old. Greg is also a sophomore
at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia majoring in Mathematics.
As youth spokesperson for the World Centers of Compassion for Children
and the founder of International Youth Advocates, he will tell us about
his mission and why he feels we most all join him to save the world’s children. |
