According to the World Bank, effective poverty reduction requires sound and pro-poor institutions, effective governance, and action to deal with high levels of inequality in assets. Our guests will discuss how the World Bank is working with countries at the national and local levels.

Ms. Bruce is the author of No Apparent Danger in which she writes about Colombian scientists and how they dealt with two volcanic eruptions in Columbia. We will discuss what was learned from the Colombian experience and how that can help people in other areas near volcanoes.
