These massive arsenals, combined with the progressive deterioration of the Russian nuclear control system pose serious risks of accidental nuclear war. The New England Journal of Medicine recently released an article warning that such an accidental nuclear attack could kill more than six million Americans.... and millions more could be injured or exposed to potentially lethal radiation, if preventative action is not taken now.
