Environmental disputes can often be resolved by way of mediation. The mediator is a neutral third party who assists in the reduction of adversity, clarification of the issues and exploration of solutions Our guests are experienced mediators and will discuss how they work on water regulation, chemical policy, land use and other issues.

Topic:  The CIA
Guest:  Robert Littell, former Newsweek journalist, novelist

Robert Littell’s novel, The Company  covers the impact of the CIA on world events from 1950 to 1995. He will talk about his research into the U.S.  Central Intelligence Agency .

Topic:  Unity Through Diversity
Guests: Keith Ellison, Principle of The Ellison Group
              Jo Ann Hinshaw, cross cultural communications specialist

Our guests will explore the role and impact of cultural values on our behavior and attitudes. They will contrast and compare cultural values in the multi-cultural work environment.

In 1999, the East Timorese voted to be independent of Indonesian rule. Now its transition period is over and independence celebrations are scheduled. The guests will talk about the struggle for independence and how this tiny half-island nation of less than 800,000 people gained independence by working within the international community to achieve justice.

Topic:  Impact of World Children’s Summit

The World Summit for Children –-was brought together government leaders, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), children’s advocates and children themselves to explore long-standing obstacles to young people’s well-being and development, as well as new challenges to the promotion and protection of their rights. Our guests will explore the outcome of the meeting and if any of the goals have been achieved.
