passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. ADAPT organizes people
with disabilities to focus attention, sometimes through civil disobedience
and similar non-violent direct action tactics, to achieve their goals.
Our guest will discuss his own frustrations with the system, after a car
accident left him a quadriplegic and how that frustration became activism.

Olympics Board of Directors, the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games
have been awarded to The People’s Republic of China. The current number
of athletes in China is almost triple what it was in 2000. We will discuss
the importance of Special Olympics to these athletes worldwide and the
benefits of participation for them, their families and communities.

right wing politician was killed. Political assassinations have been used
throughout history and the world, but did they accomplish what the assassin
had hoped for? Our guests will discuss the ethics of assassination and
whether or not there are times – and individuals – that make it necessary.

Industrial Disaster

December 3,1984, Bhopal, India became
the site of the world’s deadliest industrial accident killing between 16,000
and 30,000 people. Is it possible for history to repeat itself at another
location at another plant producing the same type of pesticide ? Dominique
Lapierre will answer questions about his research into this disaster waiting
to happen.
