Topic: Genetic Engineering
Guests: Brian Halweil, Research Associate, Worldwatch Institute

The debate continues on the attempt to master human nature through biotechnology. Conquering genetic disorders like Huntington’s or Tay Sachs disease would be a miracle for families, but will it stop at that or will we continue manipulating the basic building blocks that make us who we are? Our guests look at the pros and cons of this issue.

Wed. July 24
Topic: Insights from the Global Summit of Women
Guests: Irene Natividad, Chair, Corporate Women Directors International

As health care workers met to discuss AIDS in Barcelona, Spain, a trade mission for women and minority owned and operated businesses was meeting in the same city. The summit provided women an opportunity to exchange information and ideas. Our guests will share the accomplishments as well as the new goals with the Talk To America audience.

Thr. July 25

Justin Nigro, former president of a Model UN
Karina Arutyunova, former VP of a Model UN

The purpose of MUN is threefold: 1) build an understanding of UN in international politics and diplomacy, 2) help develop students' research, public speaking, and diplomacy skills, and 3) give students a unique opportunity to learn about the politics of the nations they represent. All of these skills are essential in the "real world" of global politics and economics. Our guests will discuss their personal experiences with the program.
